A pageant veteran will represent the Philippines in the Miss Eco International 2019 pageant which will be held at the Almasa Capital Theater in Cairo, Egypt on March 29.
Filipino-American Maureen Montagne flew to Egypt last March 12 to join the pre-pageant activities that kick off with a press conference and eco tour in Cairo on March 14.
During press send-off held at the Novotel Manila in Cubao, Quezon City on March 11, Montagne said that she is hands-on with her environmental advocacy which is a major factors in winning the pageant.
"This year I have been focusing on cleaning up the Philippines, specifically our water sources. I'm proud of our efforts with rebuilding Boracay and I have been involved with the Manila Bay Project and have been working on other local projects as well," she said.
The Miss Eco International pageant is the first international contest for Montagne. Earlier, she competed in Miss USA 2015 pageant where she placed in the top 15 and Miss World America 2017 contest where she won first runner-up.
"I am confident that I will do well in the competition. I believe in always giving 110 percent in anything you do and this pageant will be no different. I'm so excited to finally have a chance to show what I have on the international stage," she said.
Montagne asked her Filipino fans to support her journey to the Miss Eco International 2019 contest on social media.
"The best way to support me in this competition is to like, comment, and share my Eco Tourism video on the Miss Eco International Facebook page! The more engagement the contestant has the better," she said.
After her stint in Miss Eco International pageant, Montagne said that she wanted to focus on TV hosting and acting.
"I would like to focus on becoming an actress and TV host. I have always had a love for acting and would eventually like to host a travel or fashion show in the future. I will still continue modelling as well and hope to travel more. I am excited about some international projects in the works and I can't wait to share them with you when the time comes," she added.
Joining her in the press send-off were Miss World Philippines National Director Arnold Vegafria and her Miss World Philippines "sisters" Miss World Philippines 2018 Katarina Rodriguez, Reina Hispanoamericana Philippines Alyssa Alvarez Muhlach, and Miss Multinational Philippines Kimi Mugford.
